Thus far, Pan Trinbago Inc has been doing a commendable job with this leg of National Panorama '24. Scores of pan lovers have been following the Pan Trinbago Inc convoy of officials, led by President Beverly Ramsey-Moore, to panyards across the land and they have been richly entertained.

The Single Pan element in a Panorama competition has its own unique and enticing allure as it encourages arrangers to venture into the archives to resuscitate popular calypsoes of yesteryear. For instance, as preliminary judging began in Tobago, Natural Mystic Steel Orchestra of Patience Hill went back 47 years to revive Short Shirt's "Tourist Leggo", arranged by Rickie Williams.

Several popular retro calypsoes are being played by the Single Pan steelbands including "Pan in A Minor" (Lord Kitchener); "Doh Back Back" (Mighty Sparrow); "Ethel" (SuperBlue); "Woman is Boss" (Denyse Plummer); "Pan in Danger" (Merchant); and, "Suck Me Soucouyant" (Crazy).

Making the Single Pan contest even more dynamic and daring the few steelbands and arrangers choosing calypsoes one wouldn't readily think was a Panorama pick. Some of them are: Red Plastic Bag's "Volcano", arranged by Amrit Samaroo for Trinidad Nostalgic; Faye Ann Lyons' "Display", by Renaldo De Pieza, for San Juan All Stars; Red Plastic Bag's "Big Belly Ma"n, by Duvone Stewart, for San Juan East Side Symphony; and, Hanif Goodridge's arrangement of "The Islands", by Bunji Garlin and Patrice Roberts, for D'Original Woodbrook Modernaires.

Also performing a unique Panorama selection was reigning National Single Pan champion Chord Masters, doing Mighty Gabby's "Dr Cassandra", arranged by US-based Andre White.

Pride of La Brea, Jah Roots brings the curtain down on Single Pan preliminary panyard judging. The band's tune of choice is also a surprise Panorama pick, Baron's 2009 hit, "Come Go", arranged by Jesse Lessey.
