Blockbuster films are about performances from great actors. Some one has to perform the difficult task for sifting through the masses for the perfect actor. Ellen Jacoby has been doing this for decades. Overtime had the opportunity to have a chat with her.
BIO: Ellen Jacoby is a veteran casting director based in Miami Beach, Florida. Through her company, Ellen Jacoby Casting International, she casts films like Push (with Chazz Palmentieri), as well as Bachelor Party II and the USA Network TV series, Burn Notice. Her extensive casting credits include: There's Something About Mary, The Punisher, Stuck on You and The Truman Show. She has received numerous awards including the Casting Society of America's Artios Award for outstanding achievement in location casting for Parenthood, and nominations for The Truman Show and The Birdcage. In March 1990, the Mayor of Miami Beach presented her with an award for the World's Greatest Casting Director; he also declared Ellen Jacoby Day on Miami Beach. She was named Woman of the Millennium for the Year 2000 by Miami Metro Magazine and is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and Casting Society of America. She was appointed to the Florida Film Advisory Board by Governor Jeb Bush and her more recent projects include CSI Miami, Dexter, Cane, Casino Jack (with Kevin Spacey), and Dreamworks' I Am Number Four.
