Machel Montano, Kees Dieffenthaler nominated for Soul Train Award

Reigning Road March King and Soca Monarch, Machel Montano and Groovy Soca Monarch, Kees Dieffenthaler will face off against Bajan Pop Sensation, Rihanna and Jamaican Dancehall Stars, David “Mavado” Brooks and Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer as nominees in the category of “Best Caribbean Performance” at the 2011 Soul Train Awards.

Scheduled to take place on Sunday November 27 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia, the Soul Train Awards will premiere on both BET and Centric at 9 pm Eastern on the date and celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the hit television program, Soul Train from which it got its name.

 “We are thrilled to have an opportunity to partner with BET/Centric again to produce another Soul Tran Awards presentation,” said Soul Train CEO, Kenard Gibbs. “These annual awards allow us to celebrate the legacy of the Soul Train brand by showcasing amazing new talent that has been influenced by the music icons who have contributed to the success of the Soul Train series.”

The show is scheduled to be filmed in Atlanta on November 17 and famed comedian, Cedric "The Entertainer" has been tapped to host. Among the host of performers on the night will be: Jill Scott, Mindless Behavior, Robin Thicke, Lloyd, Miguel, Melanie Fiona and Keith Sweat.
